You can choose to apply vinyl in one of two ways; dry or wet. Applying vinyl dry does not allow for any mistakes, and recommended for small decals. Once the vinyl touches the surface, there is no removal without damage.
Each decal has three pieces:
1. The top layer is the transfer tape.
2. The middle layer is the actual vinyl decal.
3. The bottom layer is the wax paper backing.
These decals come to you all together in three layers.
To Apply Your Vinyl Decal: (Print PDF)
- Clean the application surface using a cloth and cleaner as needed. Make sure the surface is completely dry and clean. It is also better to apply the decal to non-cold surfaces. If your desired surface is cold try holding a light or heater next to it for a few minutes.
Secure the vinyl decal to the surface with small pieces or strips of tape. This will allow you to check the level and measure as needed to ensure it is straight and level.
Once the position of your decal is correct, apply a strip of tape across the top of the decal to use as a hinge, so that placement won’t be lost when removing the wax paper backing.
Using the previously applied tape as a hinge, lift the decal up and remove the wax paper backing from the application tape and decal.
with the decal in place, apply pressure with a squeegee or something flat like a credit card or similar object. Work from the center out to the edges so that air is forced out from beneath the decal and no air bubbles occur. (If bubbles do occur, in most cases you can poke each bubble with a sharp knife and push the air out.)- Remove the application tape, and your done!
